Why does my hair feel heavy?

Why does my hair feel really heavy?

Sometimes our hair can feel really thick and heavy after a hair cut especially through the ends. It may not swish and move about so freely. This is because no weight has been taken away and the hair has not been texturized. I for one love to personalise my haircuts and I use different methods. Believe it or not even fine hair needs it sometimes. Once I have cut in the shape required I blowdry the hair smooth so I can see where the weight is sitting and visualise how I want it to sit and move. I use different techniques, and different tools. One method is cutting deep into the hair with my scissors or slicing outwards with a flick. This means I can go deep into but maintain my shape. I can also use thinning scissors but rarely do as sometimes this can just be too much. Everyone is different though .

On short haircuts I love to use a texturised blade on clippers. Sometimes this can scare guests, but with some gentle persuasion they understand I’m not going to cut their hair off. Haha. I feel I can move more freely on a shorter haircut with them and get into the shorter hair better. So when the shape grows out it’s not going to look bowl like.

Lastly I love to razor hair. This I do when the hair is wet. Personally I favour doing it this way rather then dry. I do this when I know I can take enough weight out with this method alone and produce the shape needed. This will take weight out and create a lovely soft shape on short hair but equally just as great on those long feathery looks and brilliant on those textured wavy looks we have seen so much of this year like the Wolfe cut and the butterfly cut.

Don’t ever be afraid of what we can do to your hair. As your stylist it’s our job to inform you of what could work and what won’t. BUT we will always listen to what your needs and expectations are more importantly
